Jake Paul Honors Commitment as Ellie Scotney Becomes Britain’s Youngest Undisputed Champion

Jake Paul made an important promise to Ellie Scotney and has kept it. Scotney ensured there would be something meaningful to deliver by defeating Mayelli Flores in the co-main event of MVP-Sky Sports card’s inaugural MVP-Sky Sports event, becoming Great Britain’s youngest undisputed champion since the four belt system came into existence.

As she celebrated her success, Scotney reminded Jake Paul of their promise, making this momentous occasion all that more significant. While under scrutiny over his own fighting career after suffering an upset loss against Anthony Joshua in June 2016, Paul did not disappoint his fans by promising that Scotney would receive a car for her outstanding performance.

“Ellie Scotney, absolutely incredible,” Paul said. “Fighter of the year contender and MVP has a brand new car coming your way. Congratulations, Ellie, undisputed, absolutely incredible.”

As she absorbed the message shared by MVP’s official channels, Scotney expressed her disbelief and excitement.

“Brand new car coming,” she exclaimed. “We got to go car shopping, right? I’m going to get a license real quick, Jake, but we’re going car shopping for sure. I appreciate you.”

How the Promise Was Made

The background to this generous promise stems from conversations before the event. When Jake Paul spoke with Scotney, who held the unified super bantamweight title at the time, he learned she depended on public transportation—trains, buses, and tubes—to travel to the gym daily because she didn’t have a driver’s license.

“I’m going to be the first person to be undisputed, that’s not got a driving license or a stoppage at the minute,” Scotney shared. “I have this rule: the more fights I’m having, I’m pushing the week back, so I allow myself to have an Uber from five weeks out. You’ve gotta stay humble! I keep saying next camp, next camp. Shane (McGuigan) has teased about potentially moving, so I’m gonna have to get my driver’s license.”

Upon hearing this, Paul pledged to buy her a car if she won.

Jake Paul Fulfills His Promise After Historic Victory

Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of MVP and a close associate of Paul, later confirmed that Jake Paul was determined to honour the commitment.

“He literally texted me and said, ‘Do we not pay Ellie Scotney enough money?’ and I said, ‘She’s done really well with us.’ And he goes, ‘She doesn’t have a car,’ I said. I don’t think she can drive. And he’s like, ‘No, she can’t afford it; I have to buy her a car; I’ll pay for it myself.’ And I confirmed with Ellie; she doesn’t have a license… so he’s 100% buying her a car when she wins,” Bidarian shared.

Armed with this motivation, Scotney put on a dominating performance against Mayelli Flores over 10 rounds, outboxing her rival while neutralizing Flores’ physical approach and winning on scorecards.

Scotney’s win holds historic importance; she broke Josh Taylor’s previous record as Britain’s youngest undisputed champion five years prior when she reached 30 at age. At just 28 weeks prior, Scotney achieved this landmark achievement that marks an exceptional moment in her career.
