Angel City FC’s Coaching Update from Sporting Director Mark Parsons Ahead of NWSL 2025 Season

soccer news

As the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) season is about to commence on March 14, all the teams are immersing themselves in pre-season preparations. Angel City FC in particular are making strides toward readiness despite facing difficulty filling their coaching staff roles after Becki Tweed left as head coach after an underwhelming finish to 2024, when their record consisted of 7 wins, 6 draws, and 13 losses (ranked 12th out of 14 teams).

Sam Liatey has taken over as acting head coach since January 1, while there has been growing uncertainty surrounding this position as new season approaches. Sporting Director Mark Parsons recently provided some clarity regarding this search process for full-time head coaches with appointments anticipated before June.

“Sam [Laity] is our interim head coach and is expected to remain that way until June. That is currently our plan with regard to our head coaching process,” Parsons noted, emphasizing that they are currently operating under this transitional period in anticipation of making a permanent selection decision soon enough.

Angel City FC recognizes the critical nature of finding appropriate leadership as they attempt to enhance their standings and performances during this upcoming NWSL season. Fans and players will closely follow developments as fans hope that Angel City’s next head coach can lead them toward greater success within this league.
