Arsenal Set to Pursue Promising Midfielder Luca Weinhandl in January Transfer Window

soccer news

Arsenal, Brighton and Aston Villa have expressed strong interest in signing Sturm Graz midfielder Luca Weinhandl ahead of January transfer window. His performances in Austrian Bundesliga matches and Champions League qualifiers has drawn considerable notice to these three clubs; all have closely monitored him throughout his development for some time now.

Scouts from three Premier League clubs recently visited Rapid Wien and LASK games to observe Weinhandl play and collect detailed scouting reports on him.

Arsenal’s Interest in Strengthening Their Midfield with Young Talent

Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s leadership see Weinhandl as a promising long-term addition to reinforce their midfield ranks. Following the confirmed signing of Andria Bartishvili, Arsenal is keen to continue securing top young talent, ensuring they remain competitive in recruiting emerging players.

The club missed out on Jeremy Monga during the summer transfer window and is also interested in Louis Page at Leicester City, although Manchester United currently leads that pursuit. Despite this, Weinhandl remains a key target, with initial contact reportedly made, though negotiations have not yet advanced significantly.

Potential Deal Valued Around £17 Million

Sturm Graz understands Weinhandl’s potential and expects to receive a handsome transfer fee should any club show interest in signing him; Premier League teams such as Arsenal, Aston Villa and Brighton could pay up to PS17 million per season to acquire him.

While Sturm Graz does not feel pressure to sell immediately and the player himself appears content with their current development, Arsenal remains hopeful that an agreement can be struck in due course. Performance monitoring will continue closely until January’s window opens when more formal negotiations between clubs could commence.
