Arsenal have taken steps towards initiating discussions regarding a potential acquisition of Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic for what has been reported to be around EUR60m this coming summer.
Arsenal have long held an interest in Vlahovic and have expressed this to Juventus; as his contract at that club expires soon and Manchester United look for ways to increase their attacking options, Arsenal are becoming more serious about signing him as soon as they know about a potential exit plan from Vlahovic’s current situation at Juve. Meanwhile Manchester United also remain interested and the race for Vlahovic, an international Serbian player, continues.
Arsenal’s pursuit appears to be the most advanced, with plans to intensify efforts for negotiations in the near future. The club’s desire to add a new striker to their ranks is no secret, having already explored options during the January window, including an unsuccessful bid for Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa.
Could Dusan Vlahovic Be the Solution to Arsenal’s Offensive Dilemma?
While Vlahovic is among the top targets, Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta is also an admirer of other forwards, including Alexander Isak. However, with Isak currently out of reach, focus has returned to Vlahovic, whose possible availability this summer makes him a viable option.
Unthough his inconsistent form at Juventus caused some fans to become concerned, Arsenal management remains confident that Vlahovic can return to top performance level under Arteta’s tutelage and find renewed success at Arsenal.
Manchester United are facing unique offensive issues following disappointing campaigns by Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund; Marcus Rashford remains uncertain after loaning to Aston Villa; therefore Manchester United are in urgent need of reinforcements in attack – making Vlahovic an attractive figure to consider for them.
