Emma Hayes encourages US Women’s National Team’s (USWNT) players and fans alike to look beyond any immediate disappointment of losing to Japan at SheBelieves Cup unexpectedly and focus on long-term improvement strategies for improvement of future prospects of their squad despite finishing second at their own turf venue. Although Hayes remains committed to this approach for long-term development of squad.
After concluding the SheBelieves Cup, US Soccer Federation has scheduled several competitive matches to maintain competitive fitness of their squad, such as two doubleheader against China PR this spring at Allianz Field in St Paul Minnesota on May 31 and June 3 at Energizer Park St Louis respectively. Furthermore, Brazil will provide further competition at April camp matches, making for an action-packed schedule as they get set for future challenges.
The encounters with Brazil are arranged for April 5 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and April 8 at PayPal Park in San Jose, California. Hayes expressed enthusiasm for these matches stating they serve as an excellent blend of celebrating women’s soccer’s rich history while preparing for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers. Both teams are undergoing transitions, making these fixtures an important part of their preparation journey.
Hayes reiterated her dedication to an inclusive and patient process for the USWNT, emphasizing its value of giving players opportunities they’ve earned to demonstrate their abilities at higher levels. Our coaching staff can give these chances, but ultimately it is up to our players themselves to prove themselves at this highest level,” said Hayes. We look forward to watching players show us their abilities against an outstanding opponent team in two great soccer venues.”
