Andre Onana has emerged as an interesting subject at Manchester United following reports from Inter Milan of interest to bring him back into Serie A as their goalkeeper. At 29-years-old has endured an unnerved time at Old Trafford that attracted interest from clubs throughout Europe and Middle East.
Since joining United in 2023, Onana had been one of Europe’s premier goalkeepers; yet since making his move to England his performance has come increasingly under the microscope, making 50 appearances across all competitions last season alone for United. Fans have voiced their displeasure with his save percentage being one of Premier League’s lowest figures.
Onana’s Performance Issues at Manchester United
The goalkeeper’s situation was further complicated by an injury that led him to miss part of the preseason and a recent game against Arsenal. This has fueled speculation about his future under manager Ruben Amorim.
Despite these concerns, Inter remembers Onana’s significant contribution during his previous stint with the club, notably his role in their Champions League final run. Believed to be in search of goalkeeping reinforcements, Inter views Onana as a prime candidate and thinks a move back to Italy could be beneficial for both parties.
Manager Ruben Amorim Considers Changes
Manchester United have not decided yet whether Onana should sign for them; they reportedly are open to offers of around PS30 million for his services, though that figure might seem steep when compared with more reasonable offers made by Inter. Yet such high offers won’t deter Saudi Arabian clubs with greater financial flexibility like Al Ittihad, Al Hilal or Al Qadsiyah from making offers and going after Onana as goalkeeper.
Al Ittihad have shown great enthusiasm in Onana as an acquisition target; their financial capabilities allow them to match Manchester United’s asking price for him and it appears likely that one or more Gulf-area clubs may pursue Onana for potential moves there.
