Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is said to have given his consent for Manchester United to pursue an important transfer, specifically Angel Gomes from Lille. Gomes’ remarkable performances for Lille since leaving United have convinced Amorim of his potential value and thus spurning on this process of acquisition.
At 24 years of age, Gomes is already garnering interest from several Premier League giants like Arsenal and Chelsea; Manchester City; Liverpool; Tottenham; Newcastle as well as European sides Atletico Madrid and Napoli have shown an interest. But Gomes himself seems keener to return to Old Trafford where a three-year contract would likely include an option of an extension by one more year.
Angel Gomes’ Transfer Prospects
Having shone brightly at Lille, Gomes finds himself on the radar of many top clubs. His contract situation makes him even more appealing, as he is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2025. This positions Manchester United for potentially securing his services at a reduced rate this January or even on a free transfer next summer.
Gomes could become available as a free agent in January 2019, opening up opportunities for other clubs like Arsenal to make moves in pursuit of him. Arsenal particularly stands to benefit, since several midfield players such as Thomas Partey and Jorginho nearing expiry are in dire need of replacements.
Even as Manchester United struggles post-Sir Alex Ferguson’s tenure, Amorim’s interest in Gomes could play an instrumental part in encouraging him to return.
