Manchester United have decided to permit Brazilian winger Antony to leave in January transfer window following interest from Ajax as well as Newcastle United and Crystal Palace Premier League teams.
Antony had become one of Manchester United’s sought-after purchases after his impressive stint at Ajax; however, due to poor form and inconsistent playing time at Old Trafford he may leave either on loan or permanent deal this winter. With regards to recent form and playing time availability a loan move seems more likely.
Antony’s Future Considerations
Ajax appears to be a logical destination for Antony, providing him with an opportunity to rejuvenate his career where he previously thrived. Nevertheless, the opportunity to remain in the Premier League is on the table, with both Newcastle and Crystal Palace expressing their interest in bolstering their attacking options by potentially bringing Antony on board.
Antony may find an escape from Manchester United could help him rediscover his form. Although his experience in England has not been entirely positive, this poses the question as to which route would provide Antony with greater chances for career progression – either Ajax or continuing in England’s Premier League would provide suitable pathways.
Over the summer there was also interest from Turkish teams and Real Betis of La Liga; no agreements could be made at that point in time.
