Women’s soccer in America underwent an immense shift this year thanks to significant advancements and achievements that propelled its rise. Amid this revolution was the launch of NWSL franchise no 16 by IMA Financial Group led by CEO Robert Cohen; an impressive $110 Million commitment showed confidence in league growth as it created what will go down as one of U.S. women’s professional sports’ most historic moments ever witnessed in its growth trajectory.
At Oracle Park in a thrilling match between Bay FC and Washington Spirit, an incredible sellout crowd of 40,091 turned out for this astounding spectacle, setting an all-time attendance high for any professional women’s sports league event in U.S. women’s professional history – nearly doubling previous regular-season records set during games between Indiana Fever and Washington Mystics at Capital One Arena between September 19, 2024 to September 24, 2025.
“Records are meant to be broken,” was the theme at Oracle Park as the National Women’s Soccer League celebrated setting an attendance record at one of their professional league events for women’s professional league events held within the US. This major milestone not only shows women’s soccer’s ever-increasing popularity and support but also marks a new benchmark in professional women’s sports in this country.
Bay FC had set an NWSL standalone attendance record with 35,038 at Wrigley Field; but Oracle Park is set to break that mark and sends out a powerful statement about women’s professional sports’ potential and appeal in America.
