Orlando Pride will set another historic precedent by signing Lizbeth Ovalle from Tigres at an expected transfer fee of $1.5 Million – surpassing even that of Women’s Super League (WSL)! In an action which marks NWSL as rising, its National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). This deal should set new records with regards to transfer fees within WSL.

Ovalle will become the first Mexican player, regardless of gender, to earn an unprecedented transfer fee through this deal – also including a 10% sell-on clause for Tigres FC.

Ovalle, a highly sought-after talent, attracted interest from several NWSL teams, with Orlando Pride ultimately securing her services amidst competition from up to six clubs. The record she is expected to break was recently set by Canadian sensation Olivia Smith, who moved to Arsenal for approximately $1.34 million.

Orlando Pride made history when they signed Ovalle shortly after selling Brazilian midfielder Adriana to Al Qadsiah earlier in the season for $500,000; that transaction gave Orlando Pride enough financial flexibility to pursue Ovalle, who has won six Liga MX Femenil championships and three Campeonato de Campeonas titles during her time with Tigres since 2017.

Ovalle has made over 50 appearances for El Tri Femenil since she made her international debut. At last year’s Concacaf Women Gold Cup she earned selection as Best XI; more recently in this year’s tournament a significant highlight was scoring an eye-catching goal that led to El Tri Femenil’s historic 2-0 triumph against U.S.
