Manchester United management have shown their backing for manager Ruben Amorim by adding several significant attacking reinforcements this summer, such as Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko to Old Trafford to improve prospects ahead of next season after experiencing disappointing results last year.
Manchester United are continuing their transformation by targeting Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba and Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as targets in order to complete the makeover they initiated last season. Following Donnarumma’s possible departure, which may have led to him not being selected in their squad for this summer’s UEFA Super Cup competition, Manchester United may act.
Gianluigi Donnarumma Set to Depart PSG
Issues between Donnarumma and the PSG leadership have led to speculation about his imminent departure. Despite having a contract until 2026, PSG is reportedly open to selling him this summer to avoid losing him on a free transfer. Manchester United, under Amorim’s directive, sees Donnarumma as the perfect successor to Andre Onana.
The English club is ready to negotiate terms that might secure Donnarumma’s services until 2030, offering a salary slightly less than €18 million per year while PSG’s asking price sits at around €30 million. The Italian goalkeeper, who earns about €850,000 monthly, has declined a renewal proposal from PSG that included a lower base salary with performance-related bonuses.
Manchester United Leads the Race for Donnarumma
Although Manchester United will not qualify for next season’s Champions League, Donnarumma remains attracted to Manchester due to its history, resources, and future vision – something PSG goalkeeper David de Gea was instrumental in by appearing in 47 matches across all competitions last season alone!
Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid have expressed an interest in signing Donnarumma but Manchester United stands as the frontrunner to do so as part of Amorim’s efforts in rebuilding.
