Sergio Reguilon Seeks January Move Away from Tottenham for More Game Time

soccer news

Sergio Reguilon appears intent on leaving Tottenham Hotspur this January in search of more first-team opportunities. Reguilon was left off both Premier League and Europa League squads this season; therefore he plans on terminating his contract to facilitate this change in plans.

Reguilon may find his next adventure in La Liga after finding regular playing time during his loan stint at Sevilla and becoming integral part of their defense for the remainder of this season. Sevilla welcomes back Reguilon with open arms as they value his experience and look to use him to strengthen their defense for what may become another successful loan spell in La Liga.

Getafe has also shown interest in securing Reguilon’s services on a free transfer. With both clubs ready to initiate talks with Tottenham and Reguilon’s team, a return to La Liga appears to be a fruitful avenue for the defender to revive his career, given his familiarity with the league.

Tottenham Supportive of Reguilon’s Departure

Tottenham are sensitive to Reguilon’s wish to move on, realizing his departure will help ease their wage bill and provide funds for new signings or renewal agreements of key players like Destiny Udogie or Ben Davies who would take their places ahead in selection order. Therefore, Spurs recognize there would be mutual gains to parting ways this January with Reguilon.

Reguilon could benefit greatly from his exit to Sevilla or Getafe and become an indispensable member of either team.
