The Impending Transfer Saga of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Ederson’s Move to Galatasaray

soccer news

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain reportedly reached an agreement regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma for around EUR30m; this move remains on hold however as Manchester City works on selling off current goalkeeper Ederson to Galatasaray.

Manchester City appears confident of finalising a deal for Donnarumma ahead of the imminent transfer deadline, while Chelsea has expressed some interest. Though an acquisition at this stage seems unlikely, due to focus being given elsewhere within their squad.

Manchester United had previously shown interest in Donnarumma but have since shifted their focus to Senne Lammens from Antwerp, as they continue to strengthen their roster.

Behind the Scenes of Donnarumma’s Potential Transfer

Sources indicate that Manchester City has already agreed on personal terms with Donnarumma. The goalkeeper reportedly turned down PSG’s new contract offer, expressing disappointment with his treatment at the club. The primary obstacle now is Ederson’s departure. Discussions are ongoing with Galatasaray, and once finalized, it is expected that Donnarumma will join City.

Initially, PSG had demanded €50 million for Donnarumma, but negotiations have seen the price drop to between €26–30 million, making a transfer more feasible.

Chelsea’s Position in the Goalkeeper Market

Although Chelsea expressed interest in Donnarumma during this transfer window, their most serious target goalkeeper option was Mike Maignan from AC Milan – although no deal could be completed between both parties. Instead, Chelsea decided to maintain Robert Sanchez as its primary goalkeeper until further notice.

Should Manchester City complete their sale of Ederson, Donnarumma should become available and represent an impressive transfer coup for them.
