Tottenham Hotspur are bracing themselves for the potential exit of Pedro Porro as Real Madrid demonstrate an interest. Such interest could put an end to Real’s pursuit of Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Future of Pedro Porro
Reports indicate that Porro could join Tottenham as they look to retain the Champions League crown this season, amid reports and speculation of Manchester United possibly making a bid for him. Spurs reportedly considering Lutsharel Geertruida of RB Leipzig as an interim solution until an agreement can be made in this regard.
Geertruida, who hasn’t been with Leipzig for long and is under contract until June 2029, might still be up for grabs if the price is right. Despite the hefty transfer fee that’s being speculated, the Dutch defender’s desire to play in the Premier League could potentially lower the asking price to €40-45 million.
Pedro Porro’s possible departure would be a significant loss for Tottenham, as he has been hailed as an “unbelievable” talent by analysts. Finding a suitable replacement will be crucial for Tottenham’s management, under the leadership of Daniel Levy and Ange Postecoglou.
Of course, Geertruida will not come easily: top clubs such as Liverpool, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund Arsenal Aston Villa Lyon have all expressed an interest.
Given the highly-competitive market, Tottenham will need to convince Geertruida of his future with North London should they wish to acquire him as Porro’s successor.
