Camila Giorgi has captured attention once again, this time for a joyous personal milestone. The Italian tennis star recently announced the birth of her baby boy, sharing a tender moment from this new chapter in her life. She posted a heartfelt caption along with a monochrome photo of her newborn wrapped in a blanket, continuing the artistic style seen in her recent social media posts where she proudly displayed her pregnancy.
Earlier this year, Giorgi revealed her pregnancy and also shared images from her wedding to Andreas Ignacio Pasutti, a former ATP player. These life events marked a significant period of change and celebration for the Italian athlete.
Despite retiring from professional tennis in early 2024, Giorgi has expressed a strong desire to return to the WTA Tour in 2027. Although she has not yet specified the exact date or event for her comeback, she has been actively training and preparing, even while expecting. Videos of her intense practice sessions surfaced, showcasing her dedication and determination. Giorgi has also assembled a dedicated support team to carefully monitor her health and help rebuild her fitness gradually for her anticipated return.
Many WTA players have successfully returned to the sport following childbirth, serving as inspiration for Giorgi. Legends like Kim Clijsters and Serena Williams, as well as current stars like Belinda Bencic, have all made comebacks after becoming mothers, achieving impressive results including Grand Slam victories and tour titles.
Coaching Changes in Preparation for 2027 Comeback
Throughout her career, Giorgi was coached by her father, Sergio, who guided her from her junior years through to her professional success. However, with plans for a 2027 return, Giorgi has made a significant coaching change by appointing her husband, Andreas Pasutti, as her new coach. She explained that her father will now embrace his role as a grandfather, offering support from a personal rather than professional perspective. Despite this shift, her family remains closely involved in her journey back to tennis.
While Pasutti’s coaching experience is limited, the partnership between Giorgi and her father brought the Italian to ten Tour-level finals and four titles, including her biggest win at the 2021 WTA 1000 event in Canada. Her most recent title came at the 2023 Merida Open.
Giorgi’s best Grand Slam performance took place at Wimbledon in 2018, when she reached the quarterfinals as an unseeded player. During that tournament, she defeated seeded opponents before pushing Serena Williams to a tight three-set match.
Her retirement in 2024 was low-key, but Giorgi has always kept the idea of a comeback alive. With her careful preparation and clear goals, fans have reason to be hopeful about seeing her back on the professional circuit next year.
