Coco Gauff was disappointed with her performance at 2025 Wimbledon Championships; however, she plans on regrouping quickly in time for US Open. While losing in first round was disappointing for Gauff, her next appearance will be Montreal against Danielle Collins for whom it will be her career debut.
Prior to her match against Collins, Gauff took time out on social media to thank those who wear her signature shoe line to her matches – one fan even went as far as showing an extensive collection of New Balances featuring Gauff’s shoe design as well as limited-edition Wheaties boxes that impressed and moved Gauff immensely! Such dedication left Gauff greatly appreciative.
Coco Gauff’s association with New Balance has not only marked her unique style on the court but also led to the creation of her signature shoe line, starting with the ‘CG1’ in 2022. Following it up, the ‘CG2’ was released in 2024, drawing inspiration from her favorite 550s but with unique tennis-centric modifications. In 2025, the ‘Coco Delray’ was introduced to honor her hometown, highlighting her deep ties with the brand and its contribution to her journey in tennis.
Gauff’s victories and significant moments in her career have often been associated with her footwear, from winning her major Grand Slam at the 2023 US Open in ‘CG1s’ to defending her title wearing ‘CG2s.’ These milestones underscore her ongoing relationship with New Balance and her appreciation for the community that supports her.
Expectations is running high following Gauff’s decision to skip the 2025 Citi Open for better preparation at Montreal, having made that choice to further her development on her home tour and build upon local support and connections within Montreal’s community. She noted its significance both from an WTA perspective as well as from being close to home where crowd support can create an invaluable ally in Gauff.
Gauff has had her fair share of difficulties during previous seasons and shows incredible resolve to excel at Montreal. Eager to hone her hard court game and demonstrate readiness for US Open tournament, Gauff’s presence could serve as an indicator for her.
