tennis news

Coco Gauff is well-regarded not only for her incredible tennis talent but also for the strong relationship that exists between herself and her loved ones. While busy with professional career commitments and intense tennis schedule, this young American athlete makes time to devote to family. Coco’s fans greatly value this commitment to family; recently her affection was displayed toward Eddie Odom as she expressed it!

Even as she competed against Magda Linette at Wuhan Open quarterfinals level, Gauff still made sure to celebrate Odom’s birthday by posting to her Instagram story with him and uploading a special moment from Friday despite not having his account themselves. Gauff posted an upload with Odom with caption: ‘Happy birthday grandad lol he doesn’t have Instagram but any reason to share this picture imma do it.” Her mother Candi Gauff also joined in by posting an anniversary greeting showing their close bond among family members.

Eddie Odom is a figure well-known in the sports world, particularly for his contributions to baseball and his legacy in the Delray Beach American Little League. He founded a Little League in 1970 aimed at providing black children the opportunity to engage in organized baseball, which was less accessible to them at the time. Odom’s love for the game is evident, as he expressed, “Everyone who knew me on both sides of the track, they understand I love baseball. You can be broke, you can be mad, you can be all the worst things in the world. But when you go to that ballpark, you don’t think about any of that.”

Odom Proudly Showcases Gauff’s Achievements

At every family function in Coco Gauff’s life, her loved ones take great pleasure in celebrating each member’s accomplishments and milestones. One such memorable event occurred when Odom used social media to mark an important event in Coco’s career by wearing a New Balance T-shirt featuring Gauff, which highlighted their sponsorship relationship since she was 14 years old and featured the phrase: “Look at this new COCO SHIRT… PIZZA in New York…”. His caption read:

As Coco Gauff continues her stellar tennis career, her engagement with New Balance extends far beyond mere sponsorship; she actively participates in their lifestyle initiatives and commemorated her grandfather’s birthday to further cement their family bond.
